Footer

Overview

The Footer is located at the very bottom of your storefront. As the footer is always accessible to your customers, it's a great place to put essential information such as terms and conditions, returns policies, contact information, and accepted payments.

Steps

  1. Within your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Click your theme, and select Customize.

  3. On the left-hand menu, select Footer.

As the footer is a mandatory section, its placement is fixed at the bottom of the page.

Content

To add content to your footer, you will need to add it to a content block - your footer can hold up to 4 content blocks, which feature the following possible categories:

  • Text

  • Menu

  • Newsletter

  • Social icons

  • Image

Content block options.

Text

This content block allows you to add a Heading over the Text of your choice.

You have the option to put your chosen text in bold, italics, or a link to another page.

Menu

This content block allows you to add a Heading over a Menu of your choice.

Your menu must already exist within the Navigation section of your Shopify admin before it can be added to your footer. To learn more about Menus and links, click here to read the Shopify help pages.

Simply click Select menu, and choose one of your store's pre-existing menus.

Newsletter

This content block offers your customers an opportunity to sign up to your store's newsletter by typing their details into the Enter email entry field. To learn more about adding newsletters, read our guide below:

Simply enter your Heading, and then add an optional Newsletter description to display over the entry field.

You have the option to put your chosen text in bold, italics, or a link to another page.

You can only add one Newsletter content block to your footer.

Social Icons

Social Media Icon

This content block links your social media pages through their corresponding icons, allowing you to input a Heading to encourage customers to follow these networks.

Image

This content block allows you to add an image to your footer, which is a great way to display any awards, verification trademarks, or pictures of your team.

Use the Width slider to alter the size of your image, and use the Link entry field to link your image to another page.

You also have the option to add a Heading to draw more attention to your image.

Payment Icons

If you wish to display the payment methods your store accepts, select the Payment icons checkbox.

These payment options cannot be edited through your theme, but rather through your Shopify admin:

Steps

  1. Within your Shopify admin, go to Settings.

  2. Select Payments.

  3. Under Payment providers, add your desired payment methods.

Alignment

By using the Alignment drop-down menu, you can choose for your footer properties to be to the Left, or in the Center.

Show Language Selector

To allow your customers to change the site's language, select Show language selector.

To allow your customers to change the currency that they view your store in, select Show currency selector.

The Website hosting by Shopify credit appears in the footer by default.
